Joyful Moments
This is an ongoing project that involves photos that my mother and myself have taken while on multiple road trips from Covington, Louisiana to Caribou, Maine and back. My parents, unable to fly, have started to make this 2,000 mile drive to visit their son, daughter-in-law, and granchild, and back, two times per year. Everytime, I go along with them to help with the driving and to help with their two cats, Rasha and Pepper, and their chocolate lab, Lincoln, who all also come along for the ride. During the drive, my mother takes pictures with her old Pentax film camera, and I use my 35mm Canon, to document the trip. Together, we are curating a selection of my mother’s photos (on the left) and pairing them with my photos (on the right). The project is about slowing down, being present, and enjoying moment’s of “inbetween” rather than the start and finish, and largely about spending time with eachother while living 2,500 miles apart.
