Untitled Series

This series of folded drawings investigates the ways in which emotional experiences manifest within the body. To examine the impact of repetitive trauma on the body, I employ a process of folding the drawings, similar to an exquisite corpse, as I create them. This technique requires me to focus on one section at a time, as the folded portions remain hidden from view. This allows for an expressive and abstract approach to my gestures while also enabling me to explore perspectives and the sensation of weight within compositions that have been fragmented. As the folds accumulate, the work becomes increasingly tense and tightly compressed until it can no longer endure additional pressure. At this point, some pieces remain closed, tight, and protected, never to be reopened. Others are unfolded, revealing a fractured image that has been constrained and is only now released.
